Yo Gotti’s debut album from a major label as opposed to the ones he first started releasing independently at the start of his career was Live from the Kitchen. Yo Gotti’s earlier independent albums, in order, were From Da Dope Game 2 Da Rap Game, Self Explanatory, Life, and Back 2 da Basics, from 2000 to 2006.

Live from the Kitchen came out in 2012 after a number of major delays. After all, Yo Gotti’s first single for the then upcoming album was out in 2009! It was called “5 Star” and it did very well.

“5 Star” reached the seventy ninth spot on Billboard’s Hot 100, as well as the nineteenth on the R&B chart and eleventh on the rap chart in the States.

Yo Gotti’s second single from that then upcoming release was “Women Lie, Men Lie” and that came out that December. It featured Lil Wayne in a supporting role. “Women Lie, Men Lie” reached the eighty first spot on the Billboard 100, as well as twenty second on the R&B chart and twelfth on the rap chart in the States.

It was a whole seven months after that that Yo Gotti dropped the then upcoming album’s third single. It was called “Look in the Mirror”, and it reached the ninety seventh position on the Billboard R&B chart in the United States.

This all set the stage for the eventual debut of Live From the Kitchen, which started off in the enviable position of twelfth place on the Billboard 200 in the United States. In the first week of it being released alone, it sold sixteen thousand units in the States. By three weeks in, the sales were up to thirty six thousand.

Despite these seeming like good numbers, this was actually considered relatively significantly below what they expected from such an anticipated rap debut. In response, Yo Gotti ended up leaving his current record companies at the time, namely Polo Grounds Music and RCA Records.

Next up, in 2012, Yo Gotti dropped a mix tape to help build Yo Gotti net worth and cred. It was the seventh in a series he called Cocaine Muzik. The subtitle of the seventh part in this series was The World is Yours, and Yo Gotti released it independently via his own label, Collective Music Group.

Not long afterwards, around the start of 2013, Yo Gotti and Collective Music Group signed up with the record company Epic Records for a deal for distribution, via his friend and colleague in the industry L.A. Reid.

This led to Yo Gotti releasing the news that he would not long afterwards be dropping his 6th album, and that it would be called I Am. I Am’s debut single came out soon after that as part of promotion. It featured YG and Young Jeezy, and it was called “Act Right”.

It immediately hit fifth place on the Bubbling Under Hot 100 chart in the States, and thirty ninth on the Hot R&B Hip Hop charts. It also reached the hundredth spot on Billboard’s Hot 100, which made it both Gotti and YG’s 3rd song on the Billboard Hot 100.

Meanwhile, it was also thirty three on Hot R&B Hip Hop, and twenty four on the rap charts. All of this was a great boost to Yo Gotti net worth.

In August of the year 2013, Yo Gotti announced tour dates for I Am in order to plug the album. The tour began in September of that year, ultimately running through November, on the very day I Am came out. Other artists who came along for the tour were Cash Out, Shy Glizzy, Zed Zilla, and of course, YG.

In September, Yo Gotti also dropped a mix tape called simply Nov 19: The Mixtape, Nov 19 being the day that I Am was set to come out.

Only just over a month before I Am’s release, Yo Gotti dropped its second single, which featured the rapper T.I. and was called “King Shit”, along with a music video. The song hit the fifth spot on the Billboard’s Bubbling Under R&B Hip Hop charts in the States.

The third single came out soon after. It was called “Cold Blood” and included appearances by Canei Finch and J Cole.

In 2016, Yo Gotti dropped another new album, which was called The Art of the Hustle, and came out in both a regular version as well as a deluxe edition. Now that Yo Gotti’s name and rep had increased, this album reached the fourth spot on Billboard’s 200 chart.

The Art of the Hustle’s first single was “Down in the DM” and reached the thirteenth slot on Billboard’s Hot 100 in the United States. A popular remix that came out shortly after featured rap superstar Nicki Minaj.

August of that year saw Yo Gotti making a guest appearance in Meghan Trainor’s song “Better”, off of her popular album called Thank You. At the end of 2016, Yo Gotti and Collective Music Group had signed a deal with Jay Z’s record label, Roc Nation.

By halfway through the next year after this deal, Yo Gotti had put out a mixtape called Gotti Made-It, which was a collaboration with a producer who goes by the handle Mike Will Made It. “Rake It Up”, which included a Nicki Minaj appearance, was its first single and was a huge hit. It reached the eighth spot on the Hot 100.

The song also broke Yo Gotti’s record for single of his to chart the highest in the United States. The song reappeared on Yo Gotti’s next album, I Still Am in 2017. Three years later, Yo Gotti dropped an album called Untrapped, which instantly became his fourth album in a row to debut on Billboard’s 200 in a top 10 position.

Untrapped included guest appearances by Moneybagg Yo, Ty Dolla $ign, Rick Ross, Lil Uzi Vert, and Megan Thee Stallion. It was also the last album that was part of Yo Gotti’s initial deal with Epic Records. Yo Gotti net worth was such that he signed a new deal with Epic after this.

Yo Gotti released a new song called “Recession Proof” in 2020 under this new deal.
