Bob Saget was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on May 17th, 1956. His parents were Benjamin and Rosalyn “Dolly”, and his father was a supermarket chain executive while his mother worked as a hospital administrator.
When Bob Saget was still young, his family moved to Norfolk in Virginia. It was here he began to develop his unique sense of humor, as he was a bit of a rebellious kid while attending the Norfolk’s Temple Israel, a synagogue.
A few years after, Bob Saget and his family moved to Los Angeles, into the Encino part of town. This is where Bob had the opportunity of a lifetime to meet Larry Fine, a comedic actor on “The Three Stooges.” Both would talk about Larry’s experiences working in the comedian business.
For his last year of high school, Bob Saget and his family returned to Philadelphia, where he gained some poignant advice from his honors English teacher which would change Bob’s future forever.
His teacher, Elaine Zimmerman, saw the creative natural talent untapped in Bob Saget, and while Bob was initially interested in pursuing a career in medicine as a doctor, she strongly suggested and encouraged him to instead pursue a career in films.
Bob later graduated from Abington Senior High and went to Temple University, a film school. It was here he created his first film, a short black-and-white film titled “Through Adam’s Eyes,” based on the true story of his nephew, Adam.
Bob’s nephew didn’t have good facial bones, so Adam had to do facial surgery. The film captures the struggle Bob’s nephew went through and was so well-liked by Bob’s university that it received a Student Academy Award.
While giving time to his studies at university, Bob would also go on small tours around the city by using the train to places such as “The Improv,” where he would perform a comedic song with his guitar. He would play the song “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” while making the guitar appear to be actually crying by using water in a bottle.
Bob Saget completed his studies at Temple University and, in 1978, earned a Bachelor of Arts. He was inclined to take more schooling at another university, however, he discontinued his courses after a short time.

Bob commented on the ordeal, saying he was overconfident and overweight at the time, but the experience changed him and made him neither of those anymore.

Bob Saget started his career in early 1987 when he appeared in “The Morning Program” by CBS. Later, Saget played the role of Danny Tanner in “Full House.” The series became a popular show with family viewers, reaching the Top 30 on Neilsen’s rating system.
Bob hosted America’s funniest home videos for about eight years, from 1989 to 1997. However, in the beginning, years of the 1990s, Saget used to work both on America’s Funniest Home Videos and Full House simultaneously.
Saget directed “For Hope,” an ABC television movie in 1996, inspired by his sister, Gay Saget, who unfortunately died three years previously.
Saget directed his first feature film titled “Dirty Work” in 1998, with Artie Lange and Norm Macdonald as the lead characters. He released this film one year after leaving the role as host of “America’s Funniest Home Videos.”

Saget lent his voice to the CBS sitcom “How I Met Your Mother,” where he played the narrator Ted Mosby for nine seasons.
From 2006 to 2008, Bob hosted “1 vs. 100”, an NBC game show where one player had to eliminate as many of the other 100 players as possible. It was based on a trivia game, and if the single-player gave a wrong answer, they would forfeit all of their winnings.
